What is a Downtown Silver Spring/Washingtonian Center
Fairfax Corner Gift Card?

It is a prepaid card that can be used to purchase gifts and services in many retail stores and restaurants at Fairfax Corner, Washingtonian Center and Downtown Silver Spring.

Where can I use my Gift Card?
The Gift Card can be used ONLY at participating stores within the Shopping Centers displaying the Discover® Network logo. Visit www.MyPrepaidCard.info for a list of participating stores.

Where can I purchase the Gift Cards?
The Gift Cards can be purchased by phone by calling 877-GIFT-TO-GO (443-8864) or on-line at www.shopwashingtonian.com. Cards can also be purchased in person at the Downtown Silver Spring Management Office.

In what denominations can I purchase a Gift Card?
The Gift Cards can be purchased in any amount ranging from $15 to $500.

If I purchase a Gift Card on-line, how long does it take to receive the Card?
Your purchase will be fulfilled within 24-48 hours. Shipping will vary, depending on service selected at time of order.

Can I use my Gift Card with multiple merchants?
Yes, as long as you have a balance remaining on your Card you can use it among different merchants in the same shopping trip.

How do I check the available balance on my Gift Card?
You may obtain your Gift Card balance by:
1) Visiting the management office at Downtown Silver Spring. (no charge)
2) Visiting www.MyPrepaidCard.info (no charge)
3) Calling the interactive voice response system at 1-877-368-7530. (49¢ fee applies to the customer per call.)
4) Calling the above number and pressing the correct prompt to speak with a live customer service operator. (95¢ fee applies to the customer per call.)
5) Balances can be obtained on most merchant sales receipts after the transaction (available balance appears within the authorization code).

What if the purchase amount is more than the available balance on my Gift Card?
To make a purchase that is greater than the amount of the Available Funds, ask the cashier if they can accept two forms of payment. If the cashier agrees, pay the difference with another form of payment accepted by the merchant (many merchants can only accept cash or check as the other form of payment) and then use your Gift Card to pay the remaining balance. Not all merchants offer this as an option.

Do restaurants and salons accept the Gift Card?
Some restaurants and nail/hair salons accept the Gift Card. Typically restaurants and salons add a fixed percentage (approx. 15-25%) to the authorization amount when they swipe your Gift Card for authorization to cover the tip that would normally be added to the transaction amount. Depending on the Available Funds, the transaction may be declined if your available balance will not cover the purchase amount plus the additional authorization amount, or it may result in a “hold” for the additional amount. To avoid complications, you can generally ask the merchant to only authorize the amount you have requested. See Terms and Conditions for more details.

How do I return something purchased with my Gift Card?
Keep your purchase receipt and Gift Card in case you need to make a return. Return policies vary by store. Please inquire about the return or exchange policy when making your purchase. If the merchant issues a credit to the Gift Card, these funds may not be available to you for up to seven (7) business days. Some merchants may issue store credits for returns.

How soon can the Card be redeemed after it has been purchased?
Your Gift Card is typically activated immediately upon purchase but if system problems occur, we might not be able to activate your Card for up to two (2) business days after the date of purchase.

Why register your Card?
You may register your Card on the Internet at www.MyPrepaidCard.info or by calling 1-866-648-7961. Registering your Card is free. Your Card may be replaced if lost, stolen or expired, ONLY if you have previously registered the Card. Registered Cardholders may request a replacement for a lost or stolen Card by contacting NBO at 1-888-489-0464. A replacement Card will be issued to the registered Cardholder with the remaining Card balance less a $5.00 replacement fee. If you registered your Gift Card at www.myprepaidcard.info, or by calling 1-866-648-7961 and provided a valid e-mail address, we will notify you approximately thirty (30) days prior to the “Valid Thru” date listed on the front of the Card that you have available funds. You may request that your available funds be re-issued to a new Gift Card less a re-issue fee.

Does my Gift Card have an expiration date?
Gift Cards expire one (1) year from date of purchase except where prohibited by law. Upon expiration the administrator of the program reserves the right to retain any unspent Card Value as compensation for providing this service.

Do Terms and Conditions apply to my Gift Card?
Terms and Conditions apply to all Gift Cards. Please refer to the backside of your Gift Card and/or the Terms and Conditions that you received with the Gift Card at time of purchase for this information.

Is there a purchase fee for the Gift Card?
An up front purchase fee may be applied to the purchase amount for the Gift Card.

Are there any account maintenance fees?
No sooner than 365 days from the date of issuance of this Card, we reserve the right to charge a maintenance fee not to exceed $2.50 per month through Card expiration. The account maintenance fee is waived for the first 365 days after the date of purchase. This fee is assessed to the cardholder’s card to help offset operational expenses associated with the Gift Card program.
